: about

The FADE TO BLACK PROJECT is a philosophical thriller, a interactive riddle and discovery game: The video maker H. has commited an incomprehensible crime. He goes to jail leaving huge text, picture, sound and video archives behind. Through these archives the transsexual camerawoman Malaria7 guides the research for a reason, an explanation. What is the story?

The FADE TO BLACK PROJECT is also a performance, video and internet project that explores and develops new Working Methods in the field of audiovisuality and of digital cinema. The project addresses the challenge of the Web 2.0 and integrates corresponding elements in production and distribution. It develops and tests narrative structures in different, related technical media.

The Project is Open

The FADE TO BLACK PROJECT is an archives project, where everyone is allowed to participate according to his or her abilities and interests. You are invited to join the project anytime.

Every first and third Thursday of the month we meet for a jour fixe. Approximately every 6-8 weeks the project is presented in a different place in Berlin and the first results are shown. In irregular intervals we offer [Workshops] as an introduction to the project.

Intermedial Distribution

The FADE TO BLACK ARCHIVES may be used for different distribution forms: the internet, exhibitions, screenings etc. In the FADE TO BLACK film project we explore a new form of collaboration.

The project is based on our social software, a working and presentation platform, where we are at the moment.

The Group

The "Kollektiv der NEUEN METHODIKER" developed, from 2000 to 2007, new working methods for time-based media. These methods are exploring the possibilities of digital technique and propose radical changes to the traditional production system. With our [work method] it is possible to mix the outline with the production and to combine reality and fiction. In 2005 the Kollektiv der NEUEN METHODIKER became part of the formatLabor Network.

The formatLabor is a network of theorists and artists of different disciplines, who have been working with interventions in public since the 1990s. One of its best known actions is „A very short Play for Bank Directors", which was performed in banks. The performance was always brought to an end by a police operation. The project was state-aided and supported by the ministry of science, research and culture Brandenburg. Today the formatLabor aims to connect scientific and artistic methods.
